Hmmmm

Not really sure I have anything noteworthy to say tonight. Even though this is the first text entry to my blog, I can't think of any witty story to tell. For those who don't know, I own a business and work from home. It's been nice waking up, fixing a cup of coffee, and reading through the morning work emails all from the comfort of my house in my pajamas. I don't have to worry about morning traffic or what I'm going to wear. I don't have to fret about office relationships or bosses.

The only drawbacks have been getting started, searching for clients, finding clients who are willing to pay for my expertise, and lack of health insurance. With trying to get my business name out there in the community, I've been giving away a lot of free "stuff" or heavily discounted services. I'm know in the long run I will reap the benefits, but right now it's hurting my bank account. Nothing is out of pocket expenses, it's just been my time and creative energy. I'm a graphic designer, photographer, and writer. Like I said it's been hard, but I know this is where God wants me right now.

I've been trying to step it up a notch with my business, so Wednesday I'll be meeting with a small business consultant on doing just that. He wants me to narrow down my target audience. I have a feeling my audience is going to be with non-profits. They are so much more enjoyable to work with than corporates. I also enjoy working with small businesses, 1-5 people. But I'll just have to see where God leads me.
